Weekly Photo Challenge: Street life

Since arriving in Croatia last September I have had a chance to see many beautiful streets around the country, unfortunately they did not always have much of the other aspect of this week’s Photo Challenge theme ‘life’.

I am holding on for summer, which I have often been promised will bring locals out, as well as tourists, and might even herald the opening of some restaurants.

The lesson is, if you want to see some life visit Croatian in July and August, but for a really people-free holiday come at any other time.

    • Thanks Janet. It is lovely. The stone quarried in Istria (the region I am in) was used in much of the architecture of the Dalmatian coast and Venice. So it gets around.

This is actually quite true! Croatian towns do become ghostly spaces off season, the fact in which I find beauty and calmness…sometimes the most beautiful places are the deserted ones.

    • I agree, there are many deserted towns here that are beautiful. But sometimes you just want to be in company as well (or at least find an open restaurant).
      Thanks for the reblog.

      • They are pretty lively in the summer, lots of people and events, but winter time is dormant.
        It was a pleasure 🙂

      • I know, yes. You mostly get that during the summer there, though, so definitely the best time to visit 🙂 you’re welcome, I like the photos!
